Whether you’d like to document a historic event or capture the spirit of a city or of people while you’re travelling, this popular Aus Photo Academy workshop will teach you to photograph people, objects, architecture, street art, events, festivals and more.

Have you ever tried, or wanted to try, Street Photography? Have you ever wished for more courage or less fear photographing in public? Join Brett on the streets and boardwalks of St Kilda for this busy Saturday afternoon Street Photography Workshop. This workshop is designed to give you the confidence to approach and photograph strangers in the street and public places.

St Kilda is known for its bustling diversity, thriving street culture, laidback boardwalks and, of course, there’s St Kilda Pier. It’s perfect for street photography: people, cafes, vendors, street merchants, buskers, pets, historic buildings and unexpected surprises along the way!

We’ll meet in front of Palais Theatre (Lunar Park) St Kilda and after introductions and a brief chat about lens choice, camera settings and what to expect, we’ll head off down Acland St with its busy shops, cafe’s, eateries, and colourful characters. After some exclusive instruction and insights, we’ll spread out and explore Acland St and it’s arcades and side streets for a short time. I have some very simple little tips and techniques for each of you that will help you overcome any fears very quickly. Once everyone is confident and comfortable snapping away, we’ll head back down towards the foreshore and continue along the Bay Trail and boardwalks up to St Kilda Pier. The mix of Acland St and the nearby beach and bayside will expose us to a huge diversity of people, ages, dress codes and situations. It will will be a lot of fun and there will be endless opportunities to photograph people, street and public scenes.
